1. Overview

ShortsGuard ("the Extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that blocks short-form video content on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the Extension.

By installing or using ShortsGuard you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect no information whatsoever. Specifically:

• We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, IP address, device ID, etc.).
• We do not collect browsing history or the URLs you visit.
• We do not collect usage statistics, analytics, or telemetry.
• We do not use cookies, pixels, or any other tracking technologies.
• We do not transmit any data to any server - ours or anyone else's.

3. Local storage

ShortsGuard stores your preferences (which platforms are blocked, and whether the global toggle is on or off) in your browser's built-in local storage (chrome.storage.local / browser.storage.local). This data:

• Exists only on your device.
• Is never transmitted externally.
• Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser data.

4. Permissions explained

The Extension requests the following browser permissions:

• storage - to save and restore your toggle preferences between browser sessions.
• declarativeNetRequest - to use the browser's native, privacy-safe API for blocking network requests to short-form content endpoints without reading the content of those requests.
• Host access to youtube.com, facebook.com, instagram.com, tiktok.com - to inject content scripts that hide short-form video elements from page feeds and search results.

No permission is used to read, record, or transmit any data about your activity.

5. Third parties

ShortsGuard does not share data with any third party because it collects no data in the first place. The Extension makes no external network requests of its own.

6. Children's privacy

ShortsGuard does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we collect no data at all, COPPA obligations do not apply.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever update this policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
